On March 26, 2015, John Lauro presented to the Financial Executives Networking Group, Tampa Bay chapter. John led a discussion about over-criminalization of federal law and its impact upon financial executives. He focused on recent criminal cases and initiatives by the Department of Justice that have focused on high-level financial and accounting executives. He also discussed how financial executives can protect themselves in this challenging environment. Given the scope of federal fraud laws, financial executives are often targeted by prosecutors because of the inherent judgment calls that are made in preparing financial statements and in accounting. John is actively involved in the fight against over-criminalization of federal law, and is also dedicated to informing business executives about the extraordinary risks in today’s business environment.
